Elizabeth Spanel Splattered With Spring Feelings Elements of Ceramics Class of 2022
This is my first ever time taking ceramics and I loved it. It was truly a wonderful experience. This is my second art show at Trinity, as a freshman; but this time it is for a different medium. For my 2019 Spring Art Show, I decided to make a collection of bowls. The bowls I threw represent the season of spring with all the flowers blooming. I had the idea to name my collection of work “Splattered With Spring Feelings” because I wanted to have a spring theme since it was the Spring Art Show. I was inspired to create a balance and flowing movement through my glaze. I really wanted to have some kind of pattern and value to give emphasis on my work. I tried to make the inside of my bowls look like flowers blooming, and the outside splattered with the inside colors. I tried to focus on the rhythm of my glaze to create some contrast with the colors by the technique. Next school year, I look forward to taking sculpture and advanced ceramics, leading towards my IB art path.
